YELLOW DOG TENNIS UPDATE!

Hello Yellow Dog Tennis Pack Members!

I hope that this update finds you and your family well.

It has been a very hot July/August and Crewser and I are very much looking forward to cooler temps AND indoor tennis!

I recognize it is only in the middle of August, but, as you know the fall season will arrive quickly which means that the start of the Yellow Dog Indoor Tennis Program isn't far off! At this point we are planning to start on October 12th. Should we need to delay our schedule due to new mandates, we will adjust the start date accordingly.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Yellow Dog Tennis "Welcome!".

We offer a very special brand of tennis instruction and it begins with our terrific and completely engaged staff. Our knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm for teaching tennis is unmatched in the metro area. We specialize in teaching the entire game (not just forehands and backhands) and we do it utilizing very unique drills and incredibly fun games.  In a nutshell, whether your junior player is just starting out in tennis or is already on his/her high school team they will see tremendous improvement with us and will have a great time in the process!

If you have any concerns or questions, please email me at CoachPaulBress@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Coach Paul and the Yellow Dog Tennis Team

Winter Junior Program 2020-2021

YELLOW DOG TENNIS

Indoor Junior Tennis Clinics

November 2, 2020 - March 26, 2021

Holidays: Nov 26,2020 & Dec 20-Jan 3, 2021

Make Up Week: March 29 - April 2, 2021

We offer 6 levels of classes; maximum on court ratio is 6:1.

Please ensure that our COVID Policies are understood prior to arrival.

BEGINNER TO ADVANCED CLASSES:

Tuesdays: 4:30-6:00pm      $874

These classes will focus on building a solid foundation with footwork, correct grips and excellent technical stroke production. Students will be challenged with a combination of dynamic feeding and live ball drills, utilizing appropriate fun games to reinforce clinic lessons. Our goal is to ensure that each student has mastered the skill to execute each type of shot with excellent form. The importance of learning good fundamentals cannot be overstated. Good technique allows each student to continually improve, while poor technique limits their ability to achieve the higher levels of play.

TOURNAMENT DRILL CLASSES:

Tournament Drill 1

Mondays: 4:00-6:00pm     $1178

Players can rally and serve fairly well but need technical improvements on their stroke mechanics.  The clinic will include match play patterns for singles and doubles. Players are grouped by age and ability.

Tournament Drill 2

Thursdays: 4:00-6:00pm     $1116

This is a continuation of Tournament Drill 1, but players have more hitting and playing experience. The focus will be to improve consistency, and stroke mechanics. Match play patterns and tactics for singles and doubles will be taught. Players are grouped by age and ability.

NOTE: To assist with placement in the appropriate clinic, the student's playing experience background  should be provided. If there is a question, we recommend a 10-15 minute hitting assessment to determine the best fit.

Tournament Drill 3

Wednesdays: 4:00-6:00pm     $1178

This clinic is for the high school player or aspiring high school player with strong playing skills.                        Players will continue to develop their consistency on all shots through live ball drilling. Each class will begin with a focus on a specific tactic or strategy through targeted drills. The remainder of the clinic will utilize live ball games that simulate match play.

FINAL WORDS:

At Yellow Dog Tennis, we focus on the entire game. Often we see players who train at local academies during the outdoor season and return to us with only a forehand to show for it. Having a big forehand is great, but if you lack a serve or volley, or cannot execute any of the other shots reliably, you're not playing tennis. Having a well rounded game is not only important during competition, but it makes the game of tennis a lot more fun!

COVID Policies

Policies Taken to Prevent Transmission of Covid

Tennis Office

  • The office and bathrooms are cleaned thoroughly each morning; disinfectant will be sprayed on door and handle surfaces regularly as the teaching schedule progresses through the day.
  • Masks must be worn when more than 1 person is present in the office.
  • There is sufficient space for 2 players to sit and keep social distancing.
  • Players in excess of 2 must wait outside prior to lesson/clinic start time and for pickups following.
  • Players using the rest rooms are in addition to those in the waiting area, so after leaving the restroom, please exit the waiting area directly if 2 are already present. The same is true for the reverse so if the rest room is occupied, you must wait outside until it becomes available.
  • The water dispenser located in the office is for the use of the instructors only; players should supply their own water.

Player Conduct

  • If you feel unwell, please do not participate.
  • Players shall enter the bubble no earlier than 5 minutes prior to your start time.
  • Upon entry to the bubble, apply hand sanitizer which will be made available next to the revolving door.
  • Masks should be worn during group discussions and to the extent each player is physically able during any hitting portion of the clinic. The bubble is well ventilated.
  • An example of the 6’ personal distance will be marked with tape near the entry point.
  • All players will maintain a 6’ distance from each other during any discussion portion of the clinic.
  • No player shall pick up or handle another player’s racket or any other personal belongings.
  • To that end, players shall minimize belongings brought into the bubble: tennis racket, clearly marked water bottle, warm up jacket. If you have a tennis bag, the bag (all belongings placed inside) may be placed against the tennis bubble wall, no closer than 6’ to another player’s bag/equipment.
  • Lessons/ clinics will begin the final ball pickup 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled stop time to ensure that all exit in single file in a timely manner.
  • Players shall enter and exit the bubble through the revolving door one at a time. Exiting players will have priority.

Instruction

  • Instructors will wear masks at all times.
  • Instructors will, to the extent possible, avoid any physical contact with any players.
  • Ball carts will be handled only by the Instructors; instructors will enforce distancing as ball hoppers are emptied into the carts.
  • The handles of the ball hoppers will be sprayed with disinfectant prior to lesson/clinic start and after EACH ball pickup.
  • Instructors will ensure that no more than 6 players on each court.
